What are the benefits of Reiki? It helps to harmonize body, mind and spirit by promoting natural self healing. It is a powerful and gentle holistic healer balancing the bodies energies, organs and glands. It can strengthen the immune system, treat the symptoms of illness, relieve pain and clear out toxins. It adapts to the natural needs of the receiver enhancing personal awareness, relaxes and reduces stress, promotes creativity, releases blocked and suppressed feelings and aids  in meditation and positive thinking.

Reiki classes are available to everyone. Continuing Education credits are available for Nurses (7.0 hrs), approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, CEP #12329; and for Massage Therapists and Bodyworkers (8.0 hrs), approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, Provider #451224-10.

No promises can be made about the outcome of the use of Reiki (or any other healing system). It all depends on you, your intent, your background and the nature of your problem. Healing has different effects on every individual. A big step towards healing yourself is to actually realize your need for healing.

Yes, Reiki can be used on any illness but this does not mean everyone will be healed using Reiki. Reiki will help restore the balance in the body and can relieve or even remove symptoms. Reiki has successfully been used on conditions such as reducing stress, relieving pain, headaches, stomach upsets, back problems, cancer, asthma – respiratory problems, PMT, menstrual problems, sinus, anxiety and many many more. Remember that you as an individual have to have the firm intention of getting well before any real healing can take place. (Please observe that Reiki should never be used instead of medical treatment, it should be used as a compliment and a way to become and remain healthy.)

You relax, fully dressed, on a massage table while the healer holds his/her hands on or above you. A treatment can last up to an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions, sometimes hands are even held away from the body.

If differs from person to person and possibly also differs also from one session to the next. The energy flows wherever it is required and can normally be felt as a warm or cool sensation or tingling in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing and soothing experience!

Usually when receiving Reiki you will feel very relaxed and you may have a “floating” feeling. You may feel heat, a tingling or cold under the practitioners’ hands. These and other sensations come from what the Reiki energy is actually doing in and around your body i.e. adding energy, removing excess energy, balancing, removing blockages etc. It is also possible that you experience different emotions or thoughts during the session. If some do surface it is an option to look and learn something about them and then set an intention to release them. Some people receive insights on how to solve problems. People often feel a great sense of clarity and focus after a session. It is good to remember there is no right or wrong way to a session. Everybody’s experience will be unique.

Remember that all healing starts a process of release, this could be emotions or even toxins in your body that you need to get rid of. It is a possibility that you might initially even feel worse than before but this is part of the healing process and will soon pass. This occasion is referred to as a healing crisis. It is a normal and healthy response for healing on your body’s part. You can help your process in general with all body work often by drinking lots of water after your session.

There is not really a set number. Every person and his/her problem are different. Some people only require one or two sessions while others need several. If you are just interested in seeing what Reiki can do for you then just receive one or two sessions. If you have a chronic problem you want to work with then make a plan with your practitioner.

No, Reiki is not a religion and you do not have to believe in anything special. Reiki is suitable whatever faith or beliefs you have. The only thing you need to have is a sincere wish to help yourself (or others). Most healing systems are based on intent and so is Reiki.

Yes, people of all ages can receive Reiki. A session for a child will normally be shorter than for an adult.

Reiki works just as well with animals. Horses, cats, dogs, birds and other animals have been given Reiki with good results. Many pets want to be in the same room if you are giving or receiving Reiki. Reiki energies can be sent to animals or one can actually put the hands on the body of the animal.

NO! Reiki should never be seen as a substitute for medical care. Reiki is a complimentary therapy that can help your healing process and in many cases improve your condition.

And always remember, Reiki can never harm you! and it is very gentle, powerful and effective for your physical and mental/emotional health and well being.

Jikiden Reiki means Reiki Teaching from the original authentic Japanese lineage. This comes from Dr. Hayashi to Mrs. Chiyoko Yamaguchi, who learned Reiki in 1938. Her son, Tadao Yamaguchi, continues to teach Jikiden Reiki (lineage). Jikiden lacks the westernization of Reiki as taught in the Western World because it has not gone through Mrs. Takata.
